La Roja

“la roja.” is a dinning chair for casual eating. Its seat to back angle allows for the user to lean back and feel relaxed. Its color is meant to enhance its three dimensionality as well as adding character.

Assignment: Design a chair using the CNC machine for the structure with a 4ft x 4ft  (3/4″) baltic birch plywood sheet. The incorporation of a second material is allowed as long as the entire structure is made out of the given material and cut in the CNC machine. The type of chair is open to the designer, but the design has to focus on ergonomics and structure.

Materials: Baltic Birch Plywood (3/4″) and bending poplar plywood  (1/8″).

Machines used: CNC machine, band-saw, table saw, vacuum form bag.
